Immune Boosting Honey Mustard Salad Dressing

THIS SALAD DRESSING!! I absolutely love it.  Quite frankly I rarely make any other. It’s delicious and goes with pretty much everything.  Please try it, you won’t be disappointed.

About the ingredients…

Raw Honey – full of beneficial digestive enzymes that help to break down carbohydrates as well as containing vitamins and minerals.  Finding a honey that is minimally or unfiltered means that the pollen content will be retained.  Local is best, but I like this one since it has a delicious, almost toffee like taste.

Fresh Garlic – has been shown to strengthen the immune system, supporting the body to fight disease and some cancers.  It also contains vitamins C and B6, manganese, selenium and other antioxidants (notably allicin).

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar – is loaded with enzymes and creates a nice acid environment for good digestion.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil – made up of mostly monounsaturated fats, it contains over one hundred polyphenols (micronutrients with antioxidant properties), vitamins and other compounds that protect and repair the body,  act as anti-inflammatories and reduce oxidisation of cells.

Unrefined Sea Salt – ensures trace minerals like magnesium, potassium and calcium are retained.  More importantly though, sodium chloride (salt) in itself is vital to our health. It’s essential in regulating blood volume and pressure, in enzyme function, energy production, hormone production, protein transport and many many other biochemical processes.

Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice – is rich in vitamin C to support immune function, it also contains thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, iron, magnesium, vitamin B6, calcium, potassium, copper, folate and potassium.  On top of that it’s a great free-radical zapper. Phew!

Ingredients:

  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • 1-2 tbsp unpasteurised (raw) apple cider vinegar, preferably unfiltered
  • 1 tsp Mustard Powder
  • 1 tsp unrefined sea salt
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Clove Garlic grated
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 heaped tbsp Raw Honey

Method:

Add all ingredients into a recycled glass jar and shake until the honey is dissolved.  Pour over salad and toss.
